What should I do if I lost books/materials borrowed from the public libraries? What penalty do I need to pay for it?

Leisure and Cultural Services Department

The borrower should report the loss by completing a form at the lending library. A charge will be made for any library materials lost at an amount equal to -

  • the amount that the librarian considers as enough to replace the lost library materials or the whole set of library materials, which the lost library materials forms a part;
  • plus a surcharge of 20% of the above amount; and
  • the overdue charge, if any, for the lost materials.

Please contact the lending library for the exact charge of the lost item.  The address and opening hours of the library, please click here.
