Public may use the following methods to pay the rates and government rent -
 

Internet Banking
Faster Payment System (FPS)
  • Use any supporting mobile banking app or e-wallet to scan the FPS QR code printed on the quarterly demand to make payment.  Please visit the website of Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited for the list of banks and e-wallets that support the Government FPS bill payments.
  • No pre-registration is required.
  • Payment made before midnight of the last day for payment is regarded as on-time payment.

e-Cheque / e-Cashier’s Order
  • Payers have to sign up the e-Cheque service with the respective banks before they can issue e-Cheque / e-Cashier’s Order.
  • To make payment, payers can issue and download an e-cheque / e-Cashier’s Order payable to “The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region” or ‘The Government of the HKSAR’ through the internet banking account.  Payment must be made via the “Pay e-Cheque” portal. Select Rating and Valuation Department and the appropriate bill type, enter the bill account number, payment amount and upload the e-Cheque to confirm the payment instruction.

  • Instruction for e-Cheque / e-Cashier’s Order payment given before midnight on the last day for payment will be regarded as on-time payment.
Auto-pay
Bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
  • No pre-registration is required.  ATM cardholders may pay at any ATMs with "Bill Payment Service" or "JET PAYMENT" signage
  • Payment must be made before midnight of the last day for payment

Phone Payment Service (PPS)
  • Require pre-registration, for details please see The Treasury’s website

  • Payment must be made before midnight of the last day for payment

In-person (Post Offices)
  • Any post office (except Mobile Post Offices); for details of the address and operating hours of post office, please click here
In-person (Convenience Stores)
  • Present a rates and/or Government rent demand note with barcode at the stub portion and make payment in cash at any 7-Eleven Convenience Store, Circle K Convenience Store, VanGO Convenience Store and U Select in Hong Kong
  • The maximum limit for each transaction is HK$5,000
  • Receipt will be issued after payment
  • As ink on the receipt will fade out, please make copy of the receipt for record purpose
Mailing cheque
  • Cheques should be crossed and made payable to "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region"
  • Please write the account number and payer’s phone number on the back of the cheque and send the cheque together with the lower part of the demand note to the Director of Accounting Services, PO Box 28000, Sham Shui Po Post Office, Hong Kong
  • The postmark date will be regarded as the date of payment


Note : 

  • Rates and Government rent cannot be paid using the payment service at personal care stores or MTR stations.
  • Rating and Valuation Department will only provide payment receipt for payers who pay at the Post Office . If you need a proof of payment, please click here for details.
