If a recipient of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance / Old Age Living Allowance / Old Age Allowance / Disability Allowance passed away, how should his relatives or friends report the situation or suspend payment of the allowance?

  • If a single person recipient of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) or a recipient of Old Age Living Allowance, Old Age Allowance or Disability Allowance passed away, his/her guardian, appointee, relatives or friends should report the situation immediately to the concerned social security field unit so that the Social Welfare Department (SWD) can suspend payment in a timely manner.
  • If a family member of a family receiving CSSA passed away, other family members should report the situation immediately to the case officer of SWD so that SWD can conduct proper follow up actions or provide assistance. SWD may also adjust the amount of assistance if necessary.
