How long does it take to apply for the "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles”? How can I keep track on my application status?

Processing time

• The processing time required for each individual case depends on the accuracy of each application, and the applicants’ arrangement on completing of formalities required by the Mainland authorities  (such as vehicle examination, taking out motor insurance and upload relevant documents to the Mainland Information System).
• If the application is approved by the Mainland authorities, applicants will be issued the electronic vehicle licence. Transport Department (TD) requires around 1 working day to process the application result. After confirmation of information, TD will inform applicants of the application result by email and by post within 2 working days. If the application is approved, the Closed Road Permit will be sent to the applicant by post as an ordinary letter.
   

Check application status

• The application status can be enquired online with the following status: "Under Processing", "Application is under the processing by the Mainland government authorities", "Approved", "Cancelled" and "Rejected".
• For cases at “Application is under the processing by the Mainland government authorities”, applicants may check directly on the Mainland Information System or contact the customer service of the System to enquire their case update.
