If the branch office is going to carry out electrical work, registration of the branch office with EMSD is also required. A copy of the certificate issued by the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services should be displayed in a prominent place at the branch office.

The application procedures are as follows -

Form

Form 2A - Details of Branch Offices of Registered Electrical Contractors (EMSD/LE/33, PDF): One form is required for each branch office respectively
If the application is submitted after approval of the new or renewal application, Form 2 - Application for Copies of Certificate of Registration of Registered Electrical Contractor for Branch Offices (EMSD/LE/32, PDF) is also required

Supporting documents

Copy of the branch registration of respective branch office

Fee

The application fee is $340. The paid application fee will not be refunded regardless of the result of application.

Means of submission

In person to the EMSD Registration and Permit Office, or drop the application into the drop-in box located in EMSD HQs
By post to the EMSD Registration and Permit Office
Online submission (Password and personal digital certificate are required)

Office hours:

Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:15 pm (open during lunch hours), Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays closed
Saturday 8:30am to 12:30pm (drop-in box located at G/F lobby only)

Payment method

In person: Cash, crossed cheque, draft, cashier orders
By post/drop-in box: Crossed cheque, draft, cashier orders
Online application: PPS, online banking payment, general demand note, crossed cheque, draft, cashier orders

(Cheques, Draft and Cashier Orders should be made payable to the ‘The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’ and crossed. If an application is made online, please send the crossed cheque, draft, cashier orders to EMSD by post.)

How to collect the certificate

Through registered mail to the correspondence address of the applicant
