How to assign a retained / auctioned vehicle registration mark to a vehicle?
Transport DepartmentTo assign a retained / auctioned vehicle registration mark to a vehicle, both the mark and the vehicle must be owned by the same person or the same limited company. If an owner would like to assign the mark to a vehicle that has not been registered with the Transport Department (e.g. a car imported by the owner), the owner is required to apply for vehicle registration and vehicle licence. Time Limit for Assigning a Retained / Auctioned Vehicle Registration Mark
- A retained mark must be assigned to a vehicle within 12 months from the issue date of the certificate of retention of registration mark;
- An auctioned mark obtained through successful bidding or acquired at special fee must be assigned to a vehicle within 12 months from the date of auction (excluding the date of auction).
