Which countries or places accept the International Driving Permit issued in Hong Kong (in alphabetical order)?

International Driving Permit (IDP) is issued in accordance with the 1949 Convention. The permit should be valid for driving in the territory of all the Contracting States (Note).  To find out if the country/place that you intend to visit allow holders of IDP to drive, please refer to the most up-to-date list on the United Nations website.

There may be differences or changes in the policy or conditions of using an IDP to drive in the countries/places concerned. Some countries/places may require IDP holders to use the IDP together with their Hong Kong full driving licence. Applicants are suggested to make enquiries to the Consulates or resident offices of the countries/places concerned for details before making application for an IDP or before driving in the countries/place concerned.

Points to note:

• If the countries/places (including Mainland China and Macau) where you intend to visit do not allow holders of IDP issued in Hong Kong to drive, please contact the Consulates or resident offices of the countries/places concerned for further enquiry.
• For driving in Mainland China and Macau, please call the enquiry hotline of Transport Department at 2804 2600 (This hotline is handled by 1823 Call Centre).
