If a recipient of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme / Old Age Living Allowance / Old Age Allowance / Disability Allowance passed away, how should his relatives or friends report the situation or suspend payment of the allowance?
Social Welfare DepartmentIf a single person recipient of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme or a recipient of Old Age Living Allowance, Old Age Allowance or Disability Allowance passed away:
- His/her guardian, appointee, relatives or friends should report the situation immediately to the concerned Social Security Field Unit so that the Social Welfare Department (SWD) can suspend payment in a timely manner.
If a family member of a family receiving CSSA passed away:
- Other family members should report the situation immediately to the case officer of SWD so that SWD can conduct proper follow-up actions or provide assistance. SWD may also adjust the amount of assistance if necessary.
