What are the Public Transport Modes and Services under the $2 Scheme?

The $2 Scheme enable beneficiaries to travel on designated public transport modes and services at a concessionary fare.  With effect from April 3, 2026, $2 Scheme changes from a flat $2 fare per trip to "$2 Flat Rate or 80 Per cent Off". 

Public transport modes and services covered under the Scheme are: 

Transport ModeServices
MTR 
  • Domestic MTR services, including Light Rail and MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories)
  • Excluding the Airport Express, East Rail Line services to and from Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse Stations, and first-class service of East Rail Line
Franchised buses
  • Franchised bus routes of Kowloon Motor Bus, Citybus, Long Win Bus and New Lantao Bus
  • Excluding "A" and "NA" routes to the airport, racecourse routes, new long-haul services, designated tourist-oriented routes and the routes on a pre-booking and group hire basis
Ferries 
  • Designated ferry services
  • Excluding deluxe class services
Green Minibuses ("GMBs") 

All GMB routes

Tram

All tram routes

Red minibuses ("RMBs")

  • Only designated routes / services (please refer to TD website for details)
  • For ease of identification, the following logo will be displayed at a prominent position on vehicles and atop the Octopus readers (if available) of the designated routes:
